How to Stop your HBO Now Subscription

So, you got HBO Now to catch the last season of Game of Thrones earlier in the evening (especially if it aired later in your time zone). But now that it’s over, you don’t really need HBO Now for the time being, right?

How to Cancel Your HBO Now Subscription

You can buy it directly from HBO or through other vendors like Amazon, iTunes, Roku, and Verizon. Today, I’ll walk you through a few ways to cancel it, but keep in mind that this isn’t an exhaustive list.

Cancel directly through HBO

If you want to cancel your HBO Now subscription directly through HBO, follow these steps:

1. Login to your HBO Now account and go to Billing.
2. Click on Manage Your Subscription.
3. Turn off ‘Auto-Renew Monthly’.
4. Confirm your choice by selecting ‘Yes, Turn it Off’.

Once you’ve done this, your subscription will be suspended until the next season of your favorite show arrives. Oh, and don’t worry, these first two steps can also help you with canceling through other vendors too. The Manage Your Subscription page will tell you the provider of your subscription (Google, iTunes, Amazon, etc.), and guide you to the next stage if you didn’t buy your subscription directly from HBO.

Cancel your HBO Now subscription through Amazon

If you purchased your HBO Now subscription through Amazon, you will need to cancel it through Amazon itself since your contract is with them and not with HBO.

1. Go to your Amazon subscriptions page.
2. Select Channels or Video subscriptions and find HBO Now.
3. Click on Cancel Subscription.

Amazon might ask you to log in again and confirm your choice, but that should be it. Your subscription will expire, and you will lose access to HBO Go at the end of the current billing period.

Cancel your HBO Now subscription through iTunes

If you pay for your HBO Now subscription through iTunes, you’ll need to cancel it there too. While you can use your iPhone or iPad, it’s quicker and easier to use a web browser, especially Safari on a Mac.

1. Sign in to iTunes using your Apple ID.
2. Select Account and then View My Account.
3. Enter your password and choose View Account.
4. Click on Settings and then Manage next to Subscriptions.
5. Select HBO Now and toggle off Automatic Renewal.

If you’re using an iOS device, follow the same procedure but step 5 will say Cancel Subscription instead of Automatic Renewal. The result is the same though, so don’t worry!

Cancel your HBO Now subscription through Roku

If you have your HBO Now subscription through the Roku Channel Store, you’ll need to cancel it there. Here’s how:

1. From the Home screen, go to the Channel Store on your Roku device.
2. Find HBO Now in the channel list and select Manage Subscription.
3. Click on Cancel Subscription.

You can also cancel any channel subscriptions from the Roku website if you prefer.

Cancel your HBO Now subscription through Verizon

If you have your HBO Now subscription through Verizon, you guessed it, you’ll need to cancel it through them too.

1. Log into your Verizon account.
2. Select Subscriptions or Auto-pay.
3. Select HBO and click on Cancel.
4. Confirm if necessary.
