Browsing the Internet with Kodi: A Guide

Browsing the Internet with Kodi: A Guide

Hey there! Did you know that you can do more than just watch movies and TV shows with Kodi? You can actually surf the internet too! It may not be as easy as using your phone or computer, but it can be pretty useful. You can quickly check out information on IMDB, find out about your favorite actors, or just casually browse the web on your TV. Cool, right?

Getting Started with Internet Surfing on Kodi

To start surfing the internet on Kodi, you’ll need to install an addon called Chrome Launcher. Don’t worry, it’s super easy and only takes a minute. But before you do that, you need to set up SuperRepo, which is where Chrome Launcher lives. Trust me, it’s worth it!

First, let’s enable unknown sources so we can install the repo:

  1. Go to Settings in Kodi and select System.
  2. Click on Add-ons, then toggle Unknown Sources to on.

Now we can add the repo and install Chrome Launcher:

  1. Go back to Settings and select Add Source.
  2. Enter http://srp.nu/ and give the repo a name.
  3. Save it and go to the Home menu. Click on Add-ons.
  4. Select Install from Zip file, then find the source you added.
  5. Choose the latest version of SuperRepo for Kodi and install it.
  6. Go back to Add-ons, then click on Install from Repository.
  7. Select SuperRepo to see the list of apps. It might take a moment to load.
  8. Install the Programs repository from SuperRepo.
  9. Go back to Add-ons again and click on Download.
  10. Look for Chrome Launcher in the Programs section and install it.

Now that we have Chrome Launcher installed, we can start browsing the internet. Simply select Chrome from the list of addons. You’ll see that YouTube and Vimeo are already set up for you. You can surf those sites or add a new one by clicking on Add Website. Just type in the full URL, like ‘https://netflix.com’, to access Netflix through the browser. Click OK and enjoy exploring the web!

Creating Your Own Website Launcher

Want to make browsing even easier? You can set up a website launcher for your favorite tech website! This way, it’ll take you directly to the page with just one click. Here’s how:

  1. Open Chrome Launcher and click on Add Website.
  2. Type in the URL of your favorite tech website, like https://www.techjunkie.com.
  3. Click OK and leave the settings as they are.
  4. Now you’ll see the new launcher in the list. Click on it and voila! You’re on the TechJunkie home page in no time.

You can add as many websites as you want to the launcher for easy access. It’s like having your own personalized web hub!

Using Kodi Responsibly

Before you dive too deep into the world of internet browsing with Kodi, there’s something important you should know. While you don’t need a VPN to use Kodi, it’s strongly recommended for your online security and privacy. Your ISP can track and collect your surfing data, which can be sold to advertisers. Plus, there are risks from government surveillance, hackers, and unsecured WiFi hotspots. So, it’s better to be safe than sorry!

At TechJunkie, we’re all about privacy and security. We believe everyone should take control of their own internet security. Even if you think you have nothing to hide, it’s always better to be cautious. If you often connect to public WiFi, a VPN is essential for your protection. We have lots of informative VPN content on TechJunkie. Feel free to explore and learn more about VPNs, providers, and how to keep your online activities private. You’re welcome!
