How to Reset the Password on Your Locked iPhone 7 Plus

How to Reset the Password on Your Locked iPhone 7 Plus

Getting locked out of your iPhone 7 Plus can feel like a total nightmare. It’s even worse than losing your wallet and credit cards. When you forget your phone’s PIN, you’re completely locked out. But don’t worry! There are a few ways to fix this and get your phone back in working order.

If all else fails, you can do a hard factory reset to reset your password. But be warned, this will delete all your files and data on your phone. If you have a backup, it’s not a big deal, but losing all your data can be just as bad as being locked out.

That’s why we at TechJunkies created this guide. We’ll show you different ways to reset the password on your iPhone 7 Plus without the risk of losing your precious data.

In this guide, I’ll teach you three different methods to reset the lock screen password on your iPhone 7 Plus when you’re locked out.

Choose a Method to Erase Your iPhone 7 Plus

If you haven’t backed up or saved your iPhone data, it’s impossible to save your information before resetting the password. To reset the password on your iPhone 7 Plus, you’ll need to erase it completely.

  • If your iPhone 7 Plus is already synced with iTunes, use the iTunes method.
  • If your iPhone 7 Plus is signed in to iCloud or Find My iPhone is turned on, use the iCloud method.
  • If you don’t use iCloud on your iPhone 7 Plus and can’t sync or connect with iTunes, use the “recovery mode” method.

Erase Your iPhone 7 Plus with iCloud

  1. Go to iCloud.com/find on a different device.
  2. If necessary, sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. At the top of the browser, select “All Devices”.
  4. Select the device you want to erase.
  5. Tap on “Erase [device]” to erase your device and its passcode.
  6. Now you can either restore from a backup or set up as new.

Note: If your device isn’t connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network, you can’t erase it with Find My iPhone.

Erase Your iPhone 7 Plus with iTunes

  1. Connect your iPhone 7 Plus to your computer with iTunes.
  2. Open iTunes and enter the passcode if asked. If necessary, try another computer you’ve synced with or use recovery mode.
  3. Wait for iTunes to sync your iPhone 7 Plus and make a backup.
  4. After the sync and backup are complete, click “Restore [your device]”.
  5. When the Set Up screen appears on your iPhone 7 Plus, select “Restore from iTunes backup”.
  6. Select your iPhone 7 Plus in iTunes. Look at the date and size of each backup and choose the most relevant one.

Erase Your iPhone 7 Plus with Recovery Mode

If you’ve never synced with iTunes or set up Find My iPhone in iCloud, you’ll need to use recovery mode to restore your device. This will erase the device and its passcode.

  1. Connect your iPhone 7 Plus to your computer and open iTunes.
  2. While your iPhone 7 Plus is connected, force restart it. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, and don’t release when you see the Apple logo. Keep holding until you see the recovery mode screen.
  3. When you see the option to “Restore” or “Update”, choose “Update”. iTunes will attempt to reinstall iOS without erasing your data. Wait while iTunes downloads the software for your device.
