Sharing a Ring Doorbell Video with Others
Hey there! Today, I want to show you how to share a video from your Ring Doorbell with someone else. It’s a nifty feature that allows you to easily show others what’s been happening at your doorstep.
Okay, let’s dive in. First, you’ll need to open up the Ring app on your phone. Once you’re in, I’m going to guide you through the steps to share that video with someone special.
Step 1: Find the Video
To start, locate the video you want to share. Scroll through your video history until you find the one you want to pass along. It might be someone delivering a package, a friendly neighbor saying hello, or any other event captured by your Ring Doorbell.
Step 2: Tap the Share Button
Now that you’ve found the perfect video, it’s time to share it. Look for the share button on the screen. It usually looks like an arrow pointing out of a box. Tap on it, and a menu will appear with different sharing options.
Step 3: Choose How to Share
In this step, you get to decide how you want to share the video. You’ll have a few different options available to you. You can send it through a message app like Messenger or WhatsApp, email it to someone, or even share it on social media if you’d like. Just pick the method that suits you best.
Step 4: Select the Recipient
Next, you’ll need to choose who you want to send the video to. Type in the email address or username of the person you’re sharing it with. Make sure to double-check for any typos, so it goes to the right person!
Step 5: Add a Personal Message (Optional)
If you want to add a little extra touch, you can include a personal message along with the video. It’s a nice way to let the recipient know why you’re sharing it or share any additional insights. But don’t worry, if you’re in a hurry, you can skip this step.
Step 6: Hit Send or Share
Once you’ve followed all these steps, you’re ready to go! Just tap the “Send” or “Share” button, and off it goes to the lucky person who gets to see your Ring Doorbell video.
Now you know how to share a Ring Doorbell video with someone else. It’s an excellent way to keep your loved ones in the loop or simply show off some interesting footage. So, go ahead and start sharing those memorable moments captured by your Ring Doorbell!
Ring Doorbell devices are more than just doorbells. They allow you to communicate with your visitors and view live video footage. It’s like an intercom, but better because you can access the live footage from your mobile device at any time. Plus, it has a motion sensor that starts recording video for about fifteen seconds. All the recorded videos are stored securely in your personal Cloud.
But can you share these videos with others? Absolutely! Sharing Ring Doorbell video footage with other people is completely possible. Here’s how you can do it.
Two Ways to Share
You have two options to share the video footage with your friends and family. The first option is to access the recorded videos in your Cloud and send them to a specific person. The second option is to share the live feed with another Ring user, which can be more convenient. However, you might not want to give access to your front door’s live feed to just anyone.
Downloading and Sharing
The first method is relatively straightforward. You just need to download the video you want to share and send it. However, this process may vary slightly from device to device.
iOS and Android Devices
If you’re using the timeline feature introduced about a year ago, open the Ring app and go to the Ring device whose video you want to share. Use the timeline to scroll back to the video itself. On the left side, below the video, you’ll find a Share icon. Tap on it to share the video. If you want to download the video, tap on the download arrow.
Alternatively, if you don’t have the timeline feature, open the Ring app, select the Ring device, and go to Event History (found under the Live View bar). Choose the video you want to share and tap the share button in the bottom right.
Downloading to a Computer
To download a video to your computer, open your computer’s browser and go to ring.com/account. Sign in and look for your list of videos. Select the video you want, click on Share, and then copy the link that appears. Paste the link in the address bar and a new screen will appear. Locate the three dots symbol at the bottom right of the video and click on Download. This will save the video to your computer.
You can also share the copied link with others by simply sending it to them.
Sharing the Live Feed
As the owner of the Ring Doorbell, you have full access to it. You can view the footage, share videos, download them, and more. But what about other members of your household? It wouldn’t be fair or safe if only you had access to the app. Luckily, you can share the live feed of your Ring Doorbell with anyone you choose.
To share the live feed with other people in your household, open the Ring app and go to the specific Doorbell unit you want to share. Once you’re on the device’s page, tap on Shared Users, then Add user. Enter the email address of the person you want to share with and click OK.
Keep in mind that the person you share the live feed with will need to create a Ring account to access it. They can do this through their own Ring app. Your email invitation will provide detailed instructions and even include a link to guide them through the account creation process.
Once they’ve completed the process, they’ll have access to the Ring device you shared with them. They can simply start using the app to view the live feed. However, they won’t be able to make any changes to the settings, only view the live footage.
Sharing Your Videos/Feed
If you want to send your Ring videos to someone else or download them, just follow the instructions mentioned above. It’s not too complicated and works on most popular platforms. However, keep in mind that in order to share the live feed, the person must be registered on Ring and have access to the camera view.
Who do you share your Ring video feed with? Do you allow your children to access it? What are your thoughts on the sharing and downloading process? Feel free to discuss these and any other Ring-related topics in the comments section below.
