If you want to get the most out of your Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus smartphone, it’s important to have both a Samsung and a Google account. While you can use any email address, it’s recommended to use your Google account.
But maybe you’re not sure about these accounts. Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything you need to know. I’ll show you how to add new accounts, update old ones, sync them, and also how to remove accounts that you no longer need.
Adding a Samsung Account on Galaxy S8/S8 Plus
Adding a Samsung account is essential because it allows you to use special Samsung apps and access their market. It also comes in handy if you ever lose your smartphone and want to locate it, delete its data, or block access to it using the Find My Mobile service!
To add a Samsung account, you can either use one you already have or create a new one. Assuming you already have an account, follow these steps:
- Go to the Home screen;
- Tap on Apps;
- Select Settings;
- Select Accounts;
- Tap on Add Account;
- Tap on the first option for the Samsung Account;
- Enter your username and password;
- Tap on Sign In;
- Choose either Later (if you don’t want to receive updates and promotional materials) or Agree (if you want to stay up to date with Samsung’s latest offers).
Updating old information on an existing Samsung Account
Creating or adding a Samsung account is just the first step. Next, you’ll want to fill in some personal details like your name, address, date of birth, contact phone number, and even billing details if you plan on using Samsung Pay. You can also add devices and change passwords. Here’s how:
