Figuring Out Your Bumble Matches
If you’re just starting out on Bumble, there’s a good chance you have many questions swirling around in your head. You might be wondering how the app actually works, how to set up your profile, or how to find those all-important matches. Well, fret no more because I’m here to give you the lowdown.
Now, one of the questions we hear the most is: “How do I even know if I get a match on Bumble?” It’s a valid concern, and I’m here to ease your mind. In this article, I’ll not only provide an answer to that question but also share some general tips to help you hit the ground running and make the most of your Bumble experience.
Let’s Get Started with Bumble
To get started with Bumble, you’ll first need to download the app. You can find it on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Once you’ve downloaded it, go ahead and install it on your device.
In the past, having a Facebook profile was a requirement to register for a Bumble account. However, things have changed now. You can create an account using just your phone number. No need for a Facebook profile anymore.
If you decide to link your Bumble account to your Facebook profile, it will automatically import your age and location from Facebook. You can also choose to pull photographs from your Facebook account. But if you’re creating an account with only your phone number, you’ll have to manually add this information yourself.
Alright, time to create a biography and upload some pictures for yourself. Now, keep in mind, you’ve only got 300 characters to work with, so make every word count!
Oh, and here’s the thing – you’re only allowed to have six images. So choose wisely! Bumble will give you ample space to provide more information about yourself. You can mention your height, how much you exercise, your educational background, whether you drink or smoke, if you have pets, if you have or want children, and what you’re looking for on the site. Plus, you can share your hometown and current residence. Want to go the extra mile? Link your Spotify and Instagram accounts to give potential matches an even better idea of who you are.
Once you’ve set up your profile, using Bumble is a breeze. Just open the app and start swiping left or right on the profiles you see. If you like someone, swipe right to match. Not interested? Swipe left. Oh, and a little word of caution: if you make a mistake, stop right away.
One cool thing about Bumble is that if you shake your phone, you can undo your previous swipe. Unlike Tinder, Bumble gives you this option for free. But be aware that you only get three chances to backtrack every three hours, so use them wisely. (You can always get more backtracks if you decide to upgrade to the premium service.)
How to Tell When You’ve Got a Match on Bumble
Knowing that you’ve got a match on Bumble is actually pretty simple – the app will send you a notification on your phone.
If you happen to miss the notification, don’t worry! When you open the Bumble app, just tap on the chat notification (it looks like a small text box) in the top-right corner. Your Match Queue will then be visible, and any new matches will show up there. If you’re a woman, you can start chatting right away. If you’re a man, you’ll need to wait for the woman to message you first.
I don’t have any matches in the match queue because right now, I’m focusing on my career.
If you do have matches in your queue, but the conversation doesn’t start within 24 hours, the match will disappear. Both men and women can Extend a match by 24 hours, but you only get one free Extend per day. (Premium tier users have unlimited matches.)
My Final Thoughts
Bumble is a great app, but it might be a little confusing for new users to get started. If you’re worried about missing any matches, just keep an eye out for Bumble notifications. The app will always let you know when you get a new match.
