If you had a Mac or iPhone and preferred using a Google Home instead of a HomeKit, you had to go through some hoops to make them work together. However, a Google Home update in 2017 added new features: WiFi calling and Bluetooth audio streaming support.

Playing Apple Music on Google Home

7. Select Pair, and you’re set.

Now you should be able to play music from your iPhone by selecting Bluetooth as the audio output, and it will stream and play through your Google Home. Once paired, the two devices should remember the connection, so you won’t need to set it up again.

Other Methods to Play Apple Music on Google Home

There are many websites out there explaining how to download music from Apple Music, remove its DRM, and upload it to Google Drive or Google Play Music. However, I suggest avoiding this approach.

For one, it goes against Apple’s terms and conditions to remove the DRM and download the music. The DRM is in place to ensure the availability of the music. Additionally, depending on where you live, removing DRM can be illegal.

Possible Apple Music Support for Google Home?

Rumors suggest that Apple Music may soon be supported on Google Home devices. Macrumors.com recently reported that a user spotted an Apple Music entry in a pre-release Google Home app. If this is true, it could mean that the two competing platforms are working together to make users’ lives easier.

This is good news because Google Home owners felt left out when they heard that Apple Music was coming to the Amazon Echo. It seems like these companies are starting to cooperate more.
