How to Translate Text with Your Galaxy Note 8’s S Pen
Technology is evolving rapidly every day. Today, Samsung has introduced a remarkable feature that sets them apart from the rest. With the Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s S Pen, you can do more than just take notes – it has the ability to translate any text, even entire paragraphs, simply by hovering the S Pen over the Note 8’s display. This feature eliminates the need to copy and paste links into translation apps like Google Translate whenever you need to translate a phrase or text.
Steps to Translate Text Using the Galaxy Note 8’s S Pen
Imagine translating any text you find online just by hovering your stylus over it. This saves you a tremendous amount of time and effort, doesn’t it? It may seem impossible and unimaginable, but that’s what Samsung does best – turning the impossible into possible. So, without further ado, here’s how to make the most of the Note 8’s built-in translation feature:
Step #1: Find the text you want to translate on your Note 8
One of the best things about the S Pen’s translation feature is that it’s not limited to specific applications. You can translate any word, phrase, or paragraph, even if it’s in a PDF file or an image, as long as it’s clear enough for the feature to recognize. Isn’t that awesome?
Step #2: Remove the S Pen from your Note 8
This will trigger the S Pen’s Air Command window, which provides shortcuts to various functions.
If you’ve already removed the S Pen, you can open the Air Command window by pressing the floating S Pen button on your display with the S Pen itself.
Step #3: Access the Translate feature
The translate feature is represented by a yellow symbol. Press it with the S Pen to open its functions.
Step #4: Choose your desired languages for translation
Once you’ve activated Translate, you’ll see a box at the top of the screen displaying the languages you’re translating from and to.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 cannot automatically detect the source language in this mode, so you’ll have to manually select both languages. If you want to switch the order, tap the bidirectional arrows in the middle of the screen.
Step #5: Select whether you want to translate a single word or a block of text
The symbol will either display a “T” for a single word or a document icon (resembling a piece of paper) for a longer selection.
Step #6: Hover the S Pen over a word to translate it
Hold the S Pen close enough to the screen to see a cursor appear, followed by a spinning green-and-blue circle.
If you’re translating a single word, the result will appear above the text. If you’re translating a block of text, the phablet will only show a portion of what you’re hovering over. You can use the handles of the selection box to change your selection and translate more or fewer words.
Step #7: Close the Translate feature by pressing the X button
When you’re done, simply press the “X” icon to turn off the app. The Translate feature will continue to run until you put away the S Pen or exit the language selection box.
And that’s how it works! You can even translate entire paragraphs by pressing the teal button in the translation box and highlighting your entire selection. The translation feature is powered by Google and works for documents and web pages as well.
An Extra Tip
This feature also includes smooth currency conversion. Just highlight any currency on your Galaxy Note 8’s screen, and it will automatically be converted into your primary currency. The primary currency is determined by your selected language and country.
For example, if you’ve chosen English and the US, your primary currency will be USD. This feature is powered by Oanda. Remember, it may take a few seconds for the conversion to appear.
Are You Loving Samsung’s New Feature?
For years, it has been a lengthy process to translate something we see on our phone’s display. We had to manually type it into translation apps like Google Translate. But with Samsung’s newly introduced feature on the Galaxy Note 8, you can simply hover your S Pen over any text or image you want to translate and do it in a matter of seconds.
