How To Share Google Drive Files

Hey there! Today, I’m going to guide you on sharing your files using Google Drive. It’s super easy, and you’ll be a pro in no time!

Step 1: Uploading Your Files

First things first, let’s upload your files to Google Drive. Simply log in to your Google account and navigate to Google Drive. Once there, just click on the “New” button and select “File upload” from the drop-down menu. Choose the file you want to upload from your computer, and voila! Your file is now uploaded to Google Drive.

Step 2: Creating a Shareable Link

Now that you’ve uploaded your file to Google Drive, it’s time to make it shareable. Find the file you want to share and right-click on it. In the options that appear, click on “Get link”. You can customize the sharing settings to allow anyone with the link to view, comment, or edit your file.

Step 3: Sending the Link

Great job! You now have a shareable link for your Google Drive file. To send the link to someone, you can simply copy it and paste it into an email, chat, or any other platform you prefer. You can even shorten the link using URL shortening tools if you want it to look nicer and more concise.

Step 4: Adjusting Sharing Permissions

If you want to change the permissions of the shared file, you can do so easily. Go back to Google Drive, find the file, and right-click on it. Choose “Share” from the drop-down menu. In the sharing settings, you can add or remove people, change their access levels, and even add a password for extra security.

Step 5: Collaborating on Your Files

Google Drive also allows you to collaborate with others in real-time on your shared files. When you’ve shared a file, others can view or edit it simultaneously with you. It’s perfect for team projects or brainstorming sessions. Just make sure everyone has the necessary access permissions and you’re good to go!

Step 6: Revoking Access

If you ever want to revoke access to your shared file, don’t worry, it’s a breeze. Return to Google Drive, locate the file, right-click on it, and select “Share” again. Find the person or people you want to remove and click on the small “X” next to their names. They will no longer be able to access the file.

And there you have it! Sharing files using Google Drive is as easy as 1-2-3. Give it a try and experience the convenience of storing and sharing your files in the cloud.

Now, let’s get started by entering the email address of the person you want to share the file with in the email address text box. Don’t worry, you can enter one or more emails there. If you want, you can also add some extra details about the file in the Add a note text box.

To choose the access level, simply click on the button located to the right of the email text box. When you do that, a small menu will appear, showing the different access levels available for the file. Take a look at the snapshot below to see what it looks like. From there, you can select either “Can edit”, “Can view”, or “Can comment” as the access level for the recipient. Once you’ve made your selection, just hit the “Send” button to send out the email invitations for sharing the file with the people you want.

Sharing Files with Links

Hey there! Did you know that instead of sending files through email invites, you can share them through Google Drive links? It’s a bit less secure, but quite handy! Here’s how you do it:

First, find the file or image you want to share. Right-click on it and select Get sharable link from the menu that pops up. Look at the snapshot below to see what I mean. Once you’ve done that, link sharing will be turned on.

Now, here’s the fun part! Just click on the link to select it, press Ctrl + C on your keyboard to copy it, and then you can share that link with anyone you want! Simple, right?

If you want more sharing options, just click on Sharing settings. That will open a window like the one in the image below. From there, you can click the Copy link button to copy the hyperlink to your clipboard. And hey, don’t forget to choose the access level for the file by selecting the Anyone with the link box.

To open the settings, simply click on the Advanced option found at the bottom right of the window shown above. This will reveal a new window with various options. From there, you have the freedom to share the hyperlink through popular social media platforms like Twitter and Google+. Plus, you can take it a step further by safeguarding your shared file from being copied by others. Just choose the Disable options to download, print, and copy for commentators and viewers setting. And if you want to make sure that no one else can share the file, select the Prevent editors from changing access and adding new people option.

If you click the Gmail button, you can share the link through your web mail. Gmail limits you to 25 MB for regular email attachments. However, if you use Google Drive file sharing, you can send up to 10 GB of documents or images with Gmail. Share Files With People Who Don’t Use Google Drive

You can also share files with people who don’t have Google Drive accounts. The best way to do this is by creating a shareable link on the web. That way, anyone can access the file, even without the hyperlink, by finding it through the Google search engine. To choose the Public on web option, click the Change button on the Sharing settings window and select the appropriate option from the options below.

When you want to share a file, you have a couple of options. First, you can choose the “Public on the web” option. This means that anyone who has the link to the file can open it without needing to log in to Google Drive. It’s a convenient way to share files with a wider audience.

On the other hand, if you want to keep the file more private, you can select the “Off – Specific people” option. This option deactivates all the file links, ensuring that only the people you specifically share the file with can access it. It’s a useful setting if you want to limit who can view your file.

Once you have made your selection, don’t forget to press the “Save” button to confirm the settings you’ve chosen.

Now, let’s talk about opening files that have been shared with you.

If someone has shared files or folders with you, you can easily access them by clicking on “Shared with me” on the left side of your Google Drive storage page. This will give you an overview of all the files and folders that have been shared with you, displayed just like in the screenshot below. From there, you can right-click on a file and choose whether to preview it or open it with a specific program directly from the context menu.

Hey there! Did you know that you can easily add shared files to your Google Drive storage? Just use the Add to My Drive option! Simply select a file or folder and hit the Add to My Drive button. Then you can simply click on My Drive to open or preview the shared file.

So, who needs to bother with email attachments anymore? With Google Drive, you can share files and folders in a breeze. Not only is file sharing more convenient, but you can also share larger files compared to what you can attach with webmail.
