How to Share Files Between iPhone and Mac using AirDrop
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to AirDrop files from an iPhone to a Mac when using the current iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks 10.9 software. AirDrop only works between iOS devices and between Mac devices. When iOS 7 was released, AirDrop became available and allowed file-sharing using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. However, many Apple users were disappointed to find out that AirDrop between iPhone and MacBook was not supported. This lack of functionality between iOS and Mac devices was an oversight by Apple, leaving users frustrated with the “AirDrop not working” situation.
The good news is that with the release of OS X Yosemite, Apple introduced new features that enable AirDrop between Mac and iPhone. Now, regardless of which Apple devices you have, AirDrop will work between iOS and Mac. To access AirDrop, simply go to the “Share Sheets” menu on both OS X Yosemite 10.10 and iOS 8. Mac users can also find AirDrop in the “Finder” window if they are using OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
