How to Say Goodbye to Your Hinge Account Forever
Picture this: You’ve had your fair share of Hinge dates, but now you’re ready to move on to new adventures. It’s time to bid farewell to your Hinge account for good. Don’t fret, because I’m here to guide you through the process.
First things first, let’s begin by logging into your Hinge account. I know it may feel bittersweet to take this step, but trust me, it’s for the best. Once you’re in, head over to your profile settings. You can find it by tapping the icon that looks like a gear.
Now that you’re in the settings, scroll down until you see the option that says “Account”. Tap on it and brace yourself, because this is where things get real. You’ll see an option that reads “Delete Account”. Go ahead and click on it.
Hinge will then present you with a few options, like temporarily hiding your profile or taking a break. It may be tempting to choose one of these options, but remember, we’re going for the full farewell experience here. So, resist the temptation and continue by selecting “Permanently Delete Account”.
Hinge cares about your experience, so they want to make sure you’re absolutely certain about your decision. They’ll ask you one more time if you’re sure you want to delete your account. Take a deep breath and click on “Delete Account” once more.
Congratulations! You’ve successfully bid goodbye to your Hinge account. It may feel strange at first, but trust me, new opportunities await. Take this time to reflect on your experiences, learn and grow from them, and be open to what the future holds.
Remember, should you decide to return to Hinge in the future, you’ll have to start from scratch. Your old profile and matches will be gone. But hey, sometimes a fresh start can be just what you need.
Life is full of new beginnings and endings, and this is just one of them. Embrace the changes, keep an open mind, and who knows what delightful surprises await you. Cheers to new adventures!
Even though Hinge takes a different approach than Tinder and focuses on quality rather than quantity, it’s still online dating and can still be a really tough experience. If you need a break or want to leave it all behind, I’ll show you how to delete your Hinge account for good.
If you’re one of the lucky ones who found their significant other on Hinge and no longer need the app, congratulations! If you’re tired of online dating and deleting your account out of frustration, you’re not alone. I know some users who delete their accounts only to create new ones a month later. Regardless of the reason, deleting any online dating account can be a freeing experience!
Hinge
Hinge’s unique selling point is focusing on quality matches rather than flooding you with every possible option in your area. Instead, it presents you with ten potential matches each day. You can “like” different aspects of their profile, such as their photo, a comment they made, or something else.
The main difference here is that it’s not just about accepting or rejecting someone. It’s about engaging in conversation and seeing where it leads. If someone comments on your profile, you’ll be matched with them on the “Likes You” page, and you can take it from there.
Hinge aims to move away from the simple swipe left or right process and encourages more thoughtful and meaningful connections. Whether it succeeds or not depends on personal experiences. It’s designed to make it easier to start conversations by allowing you to comment on something in the person’s profile. It also emphasizes the importance of making thoughtful choices since you only see a limited number of options each day.
How to Delete Your Hinge Account
If you’ve been there and done that and want to get rid of your Hinge account, I can help you do it. But before we jump into that, did you know there’s another option? You can actually pause your Hinge account if you just want to take a break or see if someone special comes along. It might be worth considering before you delete everything for good.
Now, if you’re set on deleting your Hinge account, here’s what you need to do:
- Head to the Play Store or App Store on your phone and cancel your subscription.
- In the Hinge app, go to Settings.
- Select Account and then Delete Account.
- Confirm your choice to delete.
- Uninstall Hinge from your phone.
- On your computer, go to Facebook.
- In Facebook’s settings, remove Hinge as an authorized app.
It’s important to cancel your subscription along with deleting your account. If you don’t, you’ll still be charged. Remember, these two processes are handled separately by your app store, not by Hinge. Cancelling your subscription is the only way to stop those pesky charges.
Just uninstalling the app won’t do the trick. You have to manually cancel your account if you want to disappear from other people’s Discover page. This is especially important if you’ve met someone, because misunderstandings can easily happen if you’re still out there for others to see!
Take a Break from Hinge
Hey there! So, here’s the deal: if you’re looking for a way to take a break from Hinge, you might have noticed that there’s no official pause option. It’s either active or cancel. But don’t worry, I’ve got a workaround for you to sneak away from the app without completely closing your account.
Here’s what you can do: you can tweak your settings so that your profile doesn’t show up in anyone’s potential matches list. How? Well, it’s actually pretty simple. You can either set your location to a super remote place like Greenland or Antarctica, and then set a one-mile radius. Or, you can use dealbreakers to your advantage. Just set some criteria that no one would match, like a minimum height requirement of 8 feet. And make sure you activate those dealbreakers in your profile. That way, unless someone specifically wants to find people from Greenland or with insanely tall heights, you’ll be safe from appearing on anyone’s Discover page.
Now, if you want to go the extra mile and make sure you’re absolutely incognito, you can swap out your profile pictures with blank ones. It’s a quick and easy process! Just make six blank images on your computer, then follow these steps on Hinge:
- Go to Settings in your Hinge app.
- Edit your profile by clicking on the pencil icon.
- Select “My Photos and Videos” and deselect your current images.
- Add the blank images by clicking the ‘+’ icon at the top.
- Click on “Done”.
Now, I have to say, swapping out your pictures might not be entirely necessary, but if you really want to make sure you fly under the radar, it’s a small step that only takes a minute.
