How to Connect Spotify to Amazon Echo

Hi there! Today, I’m going to show you how to link your Spotify music streaming service with your Amazon Echo smart speaker. It’s a straightforward process, so let’s get started!

First things first, make sure you have the Spotify app downloaded on your smartphone or tablet. If you don’t, head over to your app store and get it installed. Don’t worry, it’s free!

Now, let’s move on to setting up your Amazon Echo. Make sure your Echo is connected to the internet and powered on. You should see the light ring on the top of your device glowing blue.

Let’s open the Alexa app on your mobile device. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it from the app store. Once you’re in the app, tap on the “Devices” tab at the bottom of the screen.

In the “Devices” tab, you’ll see a list of all your Alexa-enabled devices. Tap on your Amazon Echo’s name to open its settings.

Scroll down until you see the “Music & Podcasts” option and tap on it. In the next screen, you’ll see a list of music services. Look for “Spotify” and tap on it.

You’ll be prompted to log in to your Spotify account. Enter your login details and tap on “Log In”. If you don’t have a Spotify account yet, you can sign up for one through the app.

Once you’re logged in to Spotify, you’ll see an option to set Spotify as your default music service. If you want Alexa to play music from Spotify by default, turn on the toggle switch.

Now that you’ve connected Spotify to your Amazon Echo, you can start playing your favorite music with just your voice. Say “Alexa, play [song/artist/playlist] on Spotify” to get started.

The Echo and Alexa have become a staple in the music community, inspiring countless gadgets, add-ons, and even a popular meme on Twitter.

One of the best things about the Echo, especially when it comes to music, is its ability to sync with Spotify, the most popular music streaming service out there. But setting it up isn’t as simple as clicking a button. Today, I’m going to show you how to connect Spotify to your Echo so you can start jamming to your favorite tunes.

Connecting Spotify with Amazon Echo

So, you’ve got your Echo all set up and ready to go. Now, we just need to link it to Spotify so you can play your music. Just a heads up, you’ll need a premium Spotify account to use it with Alexa.

Here’s how to set up the connection:

• First, open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone or mobile device.
• Scroll down to the “Welcome” section of the app and tap on “Customize Alexa”.
• In the list of Alexa devices, tap on “Account”. From there, go to “Music & Media”.
• Under “Music Services”, select Spotify. You can either link your existing Spotify account or sign up for a new one. To link your account, tap on the blue “Link account on Spotify.com” button.
• On the next screen, log into your Spotify account or create a new one.
• If your Spotify account is connected to Facebook, you can log in using your Facebook credentials. Otherwise, you can use your email and password to sign in.
• If you log in with Facebook, you may need to accept the terms and conditions. Just tap the “I accept” button to continue.
• And voila! Your Spotify account is now linked to Alexa.

Now that your accounts are linked, you can use Alexa to play your Spotify music on your Echo.

Playing Spotify on Amazon Echo

So, you’ve got everything set up and ready to go. But how do you actually get your Echo to play music from Spotify? Don’t worry, I’ve got you covered.

• Hey, just say “Alexa Play Spotify.” When I first set up my account and said this command, Alexa told me that my linked Spotify account wasn’t premium and asked me to upgrade and try again. Turns out you can’t fool her!
• Since you need a Premium account, I decided to sign up for a 30-day free trial of Spotify Premium. (After the trial period ends, it’s $9.99 a month. If you don’t want to pay that much, make sure to cancel before they charge your payment account.)

After getting the 30-day trial, everything went smoothly.

1. So, once again, just say “Alexa Play Spotify.” She’ll respond, “To play Spotify, tell me which playlist, artist, or genre.”
2. Give her the details she needs. Say, “Alexa Play Ariane Grande on Spotify.” Alexa will respond, “Playing songs by Ariane Grande through Spotify.” Awesome!

By the way, I used Ariane Grande as an example because I love her music, but then I asked Alexa to play Metallica so I could rock out. I promise I didn’t ask her to play John Denver next!

So, now I’ve got a free 30-day trial of Spotify Premium and it works seamlessly with my Amazon Echo Dot.

That’s all it takes to link your Spotify music app with your Amazon Echo using the Amazon Alexa app. You can do this on your phone or mobile device.
