How to Change the Background Color in PicsArt

If you want to take advantage of this feature, it’s best to choose images that have a strong contrast between the background and the main object. Solid color backgrounds also work well. Once you’ve picked the image you want to edit, follow these steps to change its background color.

1. Open the PicsArt app on your smartphone.
2. Tap the “+” icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. Select the image you want to edit.
   
4. Once the image opens, tap the “Effects” button from the bottom menu.
   
5. Scroll left and tap on “Colors” from the Effects menu.
   
6. Tap the “Color Replace” option from the bottom menu.
   
7. The color replacement cursor will appear. Hover over the background you want to change.
   
8. Now use the “Replace Hue” slider to pick the new color.
   
9. Once you’ve chosen the new color for the background, tap the “Apply” button in the upper right corner of the screen.
   
10. You will be taken back to the “Color” screen of the app. Tap “Next” again to confirm the changes.
    
11. In the next screen, choose where you want to share the photo from the menu.
    

Now that you’ve changed the background color to your liking, you can share it with your friends or upload it to any of the social networks you use.

How to Use Another Image as the Background

Thanks to the various options in the PicsArt app, you can even combine two different images. In this case, you can use one picture as the background and the other as the main object.

So, let’s say you have a picture of yourself sitting on a park lawn and another random beach image. The idea is to combine them and make it seem like you’re sitting on that beach. The beach image will be the background, and you sitting on the lawn will be the main focus.

Here’s how you can do it:

1. Open the image you want to use as the background.
   
2. Tap Effects from the bottom menu to choose the color tone you want for the image.
   
3. Once you’ve applied the desired effect, tap the apply button in the upper right corner to save the changes.
4. Slide the bottom menu to the right until you find the Add Photo icon. Tap it to add the other image you want to use with the chosen background.
   
5. In the next menu, choose the image by tapping on it.
   
6. Tap the Add option in the upper right corner of the screen.
   
7. Now the second image will appear over the background.
   
8. Tap and hold the second image to move it to the desired position over the background. You can also stretch, shrink, or rotate the photo by dragging the corners or the rotate icon.
9. Tap the Cutout icon from the bottom menu. It looks like a pair of scissors.
   
10. In the next screen, tap the icon that looks like a person. It will automatically highlight the person in the photo by coloring it red.
    
11. If the automatic selection didn’t mark the person correctly, you can use the color brush tool from the bottom menu. Just tap that icon and then tap and hold to paint the rest of the image as you want it to appear over the background.
    
12. When you’re finished, tap the Save button in the upper right corner of the screen.
    
13. That will remove everything that wasn’t marked in red, as mentioned in step 11.
14. Now you can adjust the position of the second image even more. Resize and rotate it until it looks natural.
    
15. Once you’re happy with how it looks, tap the checkmark in the upper right corner of the screen to confirm the changes.
    
16. To save the new image, tap the icon in the upper menu that looks like a downward arrow.
    

After you’ve combined the two images, you can also enhance the final product by adjusting the colors. This will help with any differences in lighting between the original images.
