To get started, open up your iTunes application on your computer or device. Once you’ve got that up and running, you’re ready to begin.

Now, take a look at the top of your iTunes window. You’ll see a few buttons and menus up there. Don’t worry, we won’t be diving into anything too complicated. Just find the one that says “Library” and click on it.

A drop-down menu will appear, presenting you with a few options. What we’re interested in is the one right at the bottom that says “Songs”. Go ahead and give that a click.

Downloading/Updating iTunes

First things first, to check how many songs you have in your iTunes library on a specific Apple or Windows device, you need to download the iTunes app. Just go to Google and search for iTunes. It should be easy to find the download link from there.

If your iTunes app isn’t up-to-date, open it and it should prompt you to update automatically. To make sure it’s up-to-date, go to the top of the iTunes screen and click on Help. A drop-down menu will appear and you can select Check for Updates.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, the iTunes app has been replaced by Apple Music. But don’t worry, there’s still a way to check how many songs you have on your Apple device.

How Many Songs Do I Have on iTunes?

Checking how many songs you have on iTunes is super simple. You can do it in just a few clicks, anytime you want.

First, open the iTunes app by clicking on the desktop icon or searching for it. On a Mac, you’ll find it in your Launchpad.

Next, you’ll need to enable the left sidebar so you can access your songs. To do this, go to View in the top menu bar and see if Show Sidebar is checked. If not, click on it to check it.

Now, you’ll see the sidebar appear on the left side of the iTunes screen. Click on Songs in the sidebar to view all the songs in your iTunes library.

Alright, let’s start by heading to the View option once again in the top taskbar, and then selecting Show Status Bar from the dropdown menu. This will make the status bar appear at the bottom of the iTunes screen. The status bar will provide you with information about the number of items you have, the total playtime, and the overall size of your files. These items represent all the songs you have in iTunes.

How Many Songs Do I Have on My iPhone?

Unfortunately, this method won’t work on your iOS device. If you want to find out the total number of songs on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, you’ll need to use a different approach.

Thankfully, you don’t have to install any third-party apps to accomplish this. You can easily access the information you’re looking for on your iOS device itself.

To check the total number of songs on your iOS device, go to the Settings app. Once there, navigate to General and tap on About.

In the About section, you’ll find valuable information such as your current software version, device model and serial details, network preferences, and most importantly, the total numbers of songs, videos, photos, and apps. The number next to ‘Songs’ indicates the total count of songs currently available on your Apple device.

How Many Songs Does a Particular Album Have?

Whether you’ve downloaded an entire album with Apple Music or iTunes, you can easily find out how many songs are on an artist’s album.

To access this information on iTunes, go to the upper-right corner of the screen and type in the name of the artist or album. When the search results appear, select the album you’re interested in, and you’ll see the tracklist. The number displayed next to the last song indicates how many songs the album contains.

Alternatively, if you’re using a mobile device, open the Apple Music app. Once inside the app, tap on the magnifying glass icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Search for the album or artist you’re curious about. Select the album to see the tracklist and figure out how many songs are included.

Downloading Purchased Songs

If you’ve purchased an album on iTunes or Apple Music and have somehow deleted it, don’t worry. You can always download those songs again. After all, it’s your purchase, and it stays yours. To do this in iTunes, use the search bar in the top-right corner of the screen to find the specific album. Once you find it, click on the three-dot icon next to the album’s name, and then select Download.

On your portable device, use the method mentioned earlier to find the album you’re looking for. Then, simply click on the Cloud icon with the arrow pointing downwards to download the purchased album.
