Having Trouble with Notification Sounds on Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus? Here’s the Solution!
When I use my Galaxy S8 Plus, I rely on notifications to keep me updated with everything happening in my apps and services. Unfortunately, like many others, I’ve also faced issues with notification sounds on my Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus.
But the good news is, most of the time, the cause of this problem is simple and related to changes in the settings. So, I’m here to share 5 different ways to solve this problem. One of these methods should get your Galaxy S8 Plus notification sounds working properly again.
Let’s start with a simple solution: rebooting the phone.
If you’re experiencing glitches or unexpected behavior, a reboot can often fix the issue. To reboot or force restart your smartphone, just hold down both the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus will vibrate and then turn off. After a few seconds, it will start the rebooting process. Once it’s up and running again, check if the notification sounds are working.
If rebooting didn’t work, try selecting a different notification sound.
Another easy trick is to choose a different notification sound from the settings:
- Tap on the Apps icon.
- Select Settings.
- Go to Sounds & Vibration.
- Tap on the Default Notification Sound and choose a new one from the list.
Now, let’s check the notification mode.
Your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus has three main modes: Loud Ring, Vibration, and Silent. If Vibration or Silent mode is activated, you won’t hear notification sounds. To check and adjust the mode:
Press the Volume button and reduce the volume until the vibration icon appears on the screen. This means Vibration mode is active, and its icon should also appear in the Notification bar. If you keep pressing the Volume button, it will switch to Silent Mode. After that, go to the general Settings of your device and adjust the vibration and sounds as necessary from the Quick Settings menu.
Make sure notifications aren’t blocked.
Sometimes, the issue isn’t with the device or the notification sound itself. If you’re receiving notifications from some apps but not others, it’s possible that the text notification sound is being blocked. Here are two places to check for this:
- In the Lock Screen settings, go to the Settings menu, tap on Lock screen & Security, and access the Notification section.
- In the Application Manager in the Settings menu, select the Application Manager and access the message option.
If you find any options related to blocked notifications, make sure to enable them right away.
Lastly, if you’ve used Game tools recently, they might be blocking your notifications to avoid disturbance while you play. To fix this, go to the Settings menu and look for the Games option under Advanced Features. Tap on Game tools and see if there are any changes you can make to your notifications from that menu.
Hopefully, one of these fixes will solve the issue and you can enjoy notification sounds on your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus once again. Remember, we’ve started with the simplest methods and moved on to more complex ones. Let us know which solution worked for you!
